What is Voice Over IP?
Voice over Internet Protocol (Voice over IP, VoIP) is a general term for a family of methodologies, communication protocols, and transmission technologies for delivery of voice communications and multimedia sessions over the Internet.  Other terms often used synonymously with VoIP are IP telephony, Internet telephony, voice over broadband, broadband telephony and broadband phone.

Internet telephony refers to communications services - voice, fax and/or voice-messaging applications - that are transported via the Internet rather than the public switched telephone network, (PSTN).  VoIP can be a benefit by reducing communication and infrastructure costs.  For example, routing phone calls over existing data networks to avoid the need for separate voice and data networks.  Conference calling, IVR, call forwarding, automatic redial and caller ID features that traditional telecommunications companies normally charge extra for are available free of charge with open source VoIP implementations.

How much does a phone system cost?
Well, it depends on a number of things. Because we approach the acquiring of a telephone system as an investment in the business, we make sure that the product in the end is really not a cost but rather provides the means to make your business or organization work more efficiently or productively thereby becoming an asset not a cost. Our system consultants will help to identify the investment required to achieve the result  you are expecting.

Can we use any of our old equipment?
We have a very unique offering when it comes to "older" equipment.
For example, one of our product offerings is from Toshiba. We have represented the Toshiba product for over 29 years! Toshiba designs their equipment to allow the reuse of components that may be 15-20 years old. Toshiba has the best investment retainage offering in the industry and many hundreds of our clients have benefited financially from this design capability, as it is unmatched by any other manufacturer in the market today!

Why is buying a phone system so complicated?
Well it shouldn't be!
There is no doubt that today's products are highly complex! Our goal with our clients is to take the power of the most complex product and make that fit into what our clients  want & need to accomplish. So while all the capabilities of our systems may not need to be implemented, we make sure that the ones important to each individual client are implemented in a way that is easy to understand and use.

Can I have my office calls ring to my cell phone?
That's one of the key features of Unified Communications, often referred to as "Follow me, Find me".  For those individuals that need to be in constant contact with the office, Unified Communications can do it all; calls, emails, faxes even the grocery list you forgot on the kitchen counter.

How do I check my email from my cell phone?
That is an application that is available with both our Toshiba and ShorteTel phone systems.  It is one of the foundation elements of Unified Communications that gives the end user access to all of their communication resources whenever and wherever they want.  We'd love to explain to you how today's technology really can make your life more efficient.

What Products do you sell?
We sell products that allow businesses to connect within and outside of their location. We do it all from wire or fiber within the walls to final telephone device, including the many applications along the way that connect computers and networks to the telephone equipment.
We only sell products which pass the highest test for quality, have advanced capabilities, at competitive prices! Check out our products on Our Solutions page.

Are you the Heating Guys?
We ARE often asked that but no, we're the Voice and Data Guys.
Barron Heating is spelled with 2 R's whereas we only use 1 R in BARON.
Both businesses have a long, multi-generation history in the Northwest.

What is Hosted Service all about?
The scope of hosting services varies widely. The most basic is web page and small-scale file hosting, where files can be uploaded via File Transport Protocol (FTP) or a Web interface.
Using a Hosted Provider for traditional voice service has been a developing technology. We now offer what we believe is the best Cloud-based voice solution from Toshiba. We are most excited about the ability to interface Premise-based and Cloud-based solutions as this will provide a whole new level of user integration. Our systems consultants can help explain the business considerations of hosted services.

How much money can I save with SIP Lines?
That will depend. SIP trunking is a beneficial way for businesses to receive and place calls particularly if the number of lines is significant and access to broadband service is good. A number of criteria should be looked at to determine the feasibility of moving to SIP trunking. We have the expertise to help you with that!
